Assam Woman Arrested from Hyderabad in Human Trafficking Case in Cachar

The minors lured and trafficked across state lines, were eventually recovered following swift action by the authorities.

In a major breakthrough in a disturbing case of human trafficking involving two minor girls from the Gumrah Tea Estate in Assam’s Cachar district, police have arrested one of the key accused, Rupali Dutta, from Hyderabad today marking a crucial step in exposing a broader trafficking network targetting vulnerable communities.

The case, first registered under Kalain Police Station, had earlier led to the rescue of the two minor girls from Jaipur, Rajasthan.

The minors lured and trafficked across state lines, were eventually recovered following swift action by the authorities.

One person identified as Leela Ram was also arrested in connection with the case.

Acting on further leads, Cachar Police identified Rupali Dutta daughter of Late Ramesh Dutta and wife of Birendra Dutta of Brahmangram as one of the main accused orchestrating the trafficking.

Following leads, a special police team was sent to Telangana, which successfully traced and arrested Dutta from Nanakramguda under Gachibowli Police Station, Ranga Reddy district in Cyberabad.

She was produced before the local court and has been remanded to 5 days in police custody for further interrogation.

Further investigation is underway.
