Kuki, Meitei CSOs Likely to Meet Again Later This Month

In a high-stakes meeting held in New Delhi today, the Ministry of Home Affairs brought together representatives of Meitei and Kuki civil society organisations (CSOs) to discuss the ongoing crisis in Manipur. The next round of discussions is tentatively scheduled for the end of April.
Despite the lack of a breakthrough, sources informed Northeast Live that all participants agreed on the need to continue the dialogue process to restore normalcy in the violence-hit state.
According to sources familiar with the proceedings, the meeting covered a wide range of critical issues. These included the immediate need to restore peace across Manipur, a halt to violence from both communities, the safe and dignified return of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to their homes, and ensuring the free movement of people within the state. However, the talks ended on an inconclusive note.
The meeting marked a significant step as both sides reached a general consensus that the peace talks must go on. The Centre is now expected to facilitate another round of talks later this month in a continued effort to bring lasting peace to the region.
