Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma appeared in court on Wednesday for cross-examination in connection with two criminal cases he had filed in 2023.

He was summoned for cross-examination in cases involving sensational allegations made by an MNF worker, who accused him of an alleged affair and involvement in a shooting incident in 2013.

CM Lalduhoma filed the cases against MNF party worker Sp-a Jongte on May 9, 2023, after he allegedly used a fake social media profile under the name ‘Tv U Hranga’ and spread defamatory statements against him.

Jongte claimed that CM Lalduhoma was involved in a shooting incident at Sihhmui, Tlawng River, on December 7, 2013. In another controversial claim, Jongte allegedly spread rumours that Lalduhoma had been caught by the Dawrpui Joint Action Committee (JAC) while having an affair with a woman.

The CM, asserting that these accusations were completely baseless and damaging to his reputation, initiated legal proceedings to hold the accused accountable for spreading misinformation.

CM Lalduhoma was cross-examined for nearly 4 hours, from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

The court examined the Chief Minister’s testimony in both cases, with defence counsels cross-examining him on the details of the allegations and his statements.
