In a significant anti-drug operation, Cachar Police seized 66,000 suspected YABA tablets worth approximately Rs. 20 crore from a house in the Bhaga area near the Assam-Mizoram border.
Cachar Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta confirmed that the raid took place early this morning at the residence of Md Dil Bahar, in Raj Gobindpur, Assam. Acting on intelligence inputs, police teams searched the house and discovered the narcotics concealed in the ceiling. The tablets tested positive for psychotropic substances.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the drugs were smuggled from Aizawl, capital of Mizoram, and were likely meant for distribution in different parts of Assam and beyond. Law enforcement agencies have launched a thorough probe to trace the entire supply chain and identify others involved in the trafficking network.
Authorities have taken Md Dil Bahar into custody and initiated legal proceedings. SP Numal Mahatta assured that the police remain committed to cracking down on drug trafficking and dismantling illegal networks operating in the region.
