Axar Patel After Named Captain of Delhi Capitals: Delhi Capitals (DC) have appointed star all-rounder Axar Patel as their new captain for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Axar, who has been with the franchise since 2019, takes over the role after serving as vice-captain for the past two seasons. He also led the team as a stand-in skipper last season.

Axar Patel said he feels ready and confident to lead the team. “It is an absolute honor to captain Delhi Capitals. I’ve grown as a cricketer and a person during my time with the team, and I’m grateful for the trust the owners and coaching staff have placed in me,” he said.

“Our coaches and scouts have built a strong squad with great potential at the mega auction. We have several experienced leaders in the team, which will help me as captain. I can’t wait to get started and make this season successful for our fans.”

Delhi Capitals’ co-owner Kiran Kumar Grandhi praised Axar’s leadership qualities. “Axar’s appointment reflects his natural progression from vice-captain to full-time captain. He has always stepped up when needed, and he has our full support,” Grandhi said.

Co-owner Parth Jindal added, “I have seen Axar grow as a cricketer and leader. With experienced players like KL Rahul, Faf du Plessis, and Mitchell Starc in the leadership group, this marks the start of something special for Delhi Capitals.”
