According to the revised wage structure, unskilled workers will now earn between Rs 18,000 and Rs 30,000 per month.
In a significant move aimed at improving the livelihoods of thousands of workers in the state, the Arunachal Pradesh government has announced a substantial wage hike for 35,674 contingent employees, Auxiliary Labor Corps (ALCs), and casual workers, effective from April 1, 2025.
The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein while presenting the state budget on Monday.
According to the revised wage structure, unskilled workers will now earn between Rs 18,000 and Rs 30,000 per month, based on their years of service, while skilled workers will receive between Rs 19,000 and Rs 31,000.
The new pay scale is divided into 6 categories based on tenure, with employees who have served for over 25 years seeing the most significant increase.
The annual financial impact of the wage revision is estimated to be Rs 268 crore, which will be accommodated within the state’s budget, the Deputy CM said.
In addition to the wage revision, the government has introduced a one-time retirement benefit under the newly launched ‘Arunachal Karmayogi Samman Nidhi’ scheme. Under this scheme, contingent employees, ALCs, and casual labourers retiring at the age of 60 after completing 20 years of continuous service will receive a one-time retirement benefit of Rs 3 lakh.
“This initiative highlights our dedication to enhancing the socio-economic welfare of our workforce and promoting a dignified, motivated work environment,” said Deputy CM Chowna Mein.
He said that the finance, planning, and investment department will soon issue detailed guidelines for the implementation of the wage hike and retirement scheme.
