Security forces carried out a major operation in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district to dismantle bunkers used by miscreants for extortion and obstructing traffic on National Highway-2. Acting on specific intelligence, a joint team of the Indian Army, CRPF, BSF, and Manipur Police launched a cordon and search operation in Khengang village.
During the operation, the forces destroyed 12 bunkers that had been used as a stronghold by miscreants extorting money from commuters and disrupting movement along NH-2. The security personnel also seized a cache of weapons, including two Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs), three live SLR rounds, two country-made pompis, 59 live rounds of 12-bore rifles, a handheld radio set, and a helmet.
By dismantling these bunkers, the security forces have left miscreants without a base to carry out their activities. To prevent further misuse of the area, a company of CRPF has been deployed to maintain security and ensure the safe movement of civilians from Imphal to the general area of Saparmeina.
