Assam: Dibrugarh University to start Japanese language course from next academic year

CM Sarma announced that the course aligns with the state’s vision to equip the youth with Japanese language skills, expanding their opportunities in education and employment.

For the first time, to strengthen cultural and linguistic exchange and enhance human resource development, the Assam Government has taken a unique initiative to introduce a Japanese language course at Dibrugarh University from the next academic year.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the course aligns with the state’s vision to equip the youth with Japanese language skills, expanding their opportunities in education and employment.

“Taking forward our plans to equip youths with Japanese language skills, Dibrugarh University will start with Japanese language course from next academic year. Recently, a Japan Caravan was organised on the campus by Japan Foundation to lay the foundation for the upcoming engagements,” CM Sarma tweeted.

In preparation for this initiative, the Japan Foundation recently organized a Japan Caravan on the university campus to establish a foundation for future collaborations.

The event aimed at fostering greater engagement between Assam and Japan in terms of education, cultural exchange, and skill development.

Taisei Toyomaru, Director of the Japanese Language Department, expressed his gratitude to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma for supporting the promotion of the Japanese language in the region.

He also appreciated Dibrugarh University for facilitating and hosting the Japan Caravan, calling it a significant step toward deepening ties between Assam and Japan.

Chiaki Suzuki, Japanese Language Advisor, shared her excitement over the successful organization of the Japan Caravan at Dibrugarh University.She engaged with students who participated in the event, encouraging them to explore opportunities in Japanese language learning and future collaborations.

The introduction of the Japanese language course at Dibrugarh University is expected to open new avenues for students, enhancing their career prospects and further strengthening Assam’s cultural and economic ties with Japan.

Earlier, Dibrugarh University had introduced studies in Korean languages, which had proved beneficial for students and job seekers who wanted to go to Korea for academics as well as for jobs.
