Arunachal Pradesh’s First GI Tagged Products’ Festival to Begin Today in Delhi

The GI Tag Festival aims to promote and preserve these distinctive products while creating new market opportunities for local artisans.
Arunachal Pradesh’s first-ever exclusive GI Tag Festival will kick off today at Select City Walk, Delhi, showcasing the state’s rich heritage, indigenous craftsmanship, and organic treasures.
The festival, running from February 28 to March 2, will put the spotlight on Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged products, offering visitors an immersive experience of Arunachal’s unique cultural and agricultural legacy.
Organized to bring the finest GI-certified products to the national stage, the festival celebrates the identity and craftsmanship of the region.
Artisans, farmers, and entrepreneurs will present their authentic and time-honoured goods, ranging from handwoven textiles and traditional handicrafts to organic produce native to Arunachal Pradesh.
The GI Tag Festival aims to promote and preserve these distinctive products while creating new market opportunities for local artisans.
Visitors can explore and purchase authentic GI-tagged items, directly contributing to the livelihoods of the talented communities behind them.
This landmark event is an opportunity for people to discover, support, and take pride in the cultural treasures of Arunachal Pradesh. The festival is open to all, inviting Delhiites and visitors to experience the essence of the northeastern state.
It may be mentioned here that Arunachal Pradesh has the highest number of GI-tagged products among all Northeastern states, with a total of 20 indigenous items receiving the prestigious recognition.
Among the products granted GI tag are-Apatani Textile, Monpa Textile, Nyishi Textile, Monpa Handmade Paper, Adi Textile, Singpho Phalap (Singpho Tea), Galo Textile, Adi Apong, Dao (sword), Angnyat Millet, Marua Apo (Marua millet beverage), Tai Khamti Textile, Yak Churpi, Khaw Tai and Tangsa Textiles.
