The victim has been identified as Sunita Ghosh, a resident of Dahabora in Jorhat district.

Kolkata witnessed a shocking murder case on Tuesday, resembling a crime thriller movie when the bloodied body of a woman was discovered stuffed inside a trolley bag near the Ganga River.

The victim has been identified as Sunita Ghosh, daughter of late Assam businessman Nitai Ghosh and a resident of Dahabora in Jorhat district.

The gruesome discovery was made when locals noticed two women acting suspiciously while attempting to dispose of a trolley bag near the Ganga River. When confronted, the duo refused to open it, raising further suspicion.

Police were called to the scene, and upon forcing the bag open, they found Sunita’s lifeless body inside.

The accused have been identified as Falguni Ghosh, Sunita’s brother’s daughter-in-law, and Falguni’s mother, Arati Ghosh. Both women were caught red-handed and have been arrested as the prime suspects in the case.

Speaking to media, Sunita’s brother said that after her marriage, Sunita had moved to Barddhaman, Kolkata, but had been living separately from her husband for the past few years. She mostly stayed in Jorhat, in one of her properties, and had been missing since February 21.

Investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the murder.

More details are awaited.
