The upcoming inauguration, once confirmed, is expected to be a significant event for devotees and a major boost to Tripura’s tourism sector.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the redeveloped Mata Tripureswari temple in Gomati district, Tripura on April 7, though the final date is yet to be confirmed, said state’s Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also likely to join the grand inauguration of the temple.
Speaking to media, Chowdhury revealed that Chief Minister Manik Saha had met PM Modi and HM Shah in Delhi earlier this month and extended an invitation for the grand inauguration of the temple, which is one of the 51 Shakti Peeths and holds immense religious significance.
Chowdhury shared this information on the sidelines of a press briefing regarding recent cabinet decisions, including the approval of over 300 recruitments across departments including Forest, Finance, Cooperative, ICDS and others.
The Tourism Minister said as per the Hindu calendar April 7 is an auspicious date for inauguration which has been proposed by the priests but no final date has been fixed as it depends on the availability of the PM and HM.
The redevelopment of the temple, carried out under the PRASAD scheme of the Ministry of Tourism, involved an investment of Rs 52 crore including Rs 7 crores from the state government to boost religious tourism in the state.
The upcoming inauguration, once confirmed, is expected to be a significant event for devotees and a major boost to Tripura’s tourism sector.
