Tripura is set to host the 73rd BN Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship 2025, which will commence on February 24.

This is the first time the state is organizing this prestigious sporting event, aimed at fostering sportsmanship and enhancing coordination among police forces across India.

Addressing a press conference at the Agartala Police Headquarters, Tripura’s Director General of Police (DGP) Amitabh Ranjan emphasized the significance of the tournament in strengthening ties among police forces.

“This championship will not only promote sports but also create a platform for real-time intelligence sharing among police personnel from different states,” he stated.

Chief Minister Manik Saha will inaugurate the mega-event on February 24 at the Umakanta Mini Stadium in Agartala.

The championship will feature 45 teams, including 36 men’s and 9 women’s teams, with around 1,500 players participating from 25 states and four union territories.

The tournament’s opening match will see Mizoram face Uttar Pradesh at the Umakanta Mini Stadium. Other league and knockout matches will be hosted at multiple venues, including Jirania in West Tripura, Udaipur, Tula Baban in Mohanpur, and Jampuijala in Sepahijala district.

The event, open to the public, is expected to be a major attraction as several national and international football players will showcase their skills over the 12-day tournament.
