Mizoram to Host First-Ever International Half Marathon in April, Promoting Sports and Wellness

The Aizawl International Half Marathon promises to be a landmark event, bringing global attention to the beauty and spirit of Mizoram.
Mizoram is set to host the first-ever International Half Marathon in April, marking a significant milestone in the state’s sports calendar.
The event, spearheaded by the Mizoram Sports and Youth Services Department in collaboration with Innovations India, aims to promote sports, health, tourism, and the fight against drug abuse.
Mizoram Sports Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar and the Managing Director of Innovations signed an agreement today, establishing a three-year partnership to make the marathon an annual event.
The initiative aims to attract both national and international athletes, positioning Aizawl as a key destination on India’s marathon circuit.
The Mizoram Athletic Association has expressed hopes that the marathon will be included in the Athletic Federation of India’s official annual calendar, to further enhance its reach and visibility.
The race will showcase Aizawl’s breathtaking landscapes, with a route designed to highlight the city’s lush scenic beauty.
Beyond promoting health and wellness, the marathon is expected to boost local tourism, further cementing Mizoram’s reputation as a hub for sports and adventure.
Recognised as a key growth sector under the Ministry of DoNER, sports play a vital role in Mizoram’s economic and cultural development. This marathon stands as a significant event, benefiting both the local community and the state’s broader aspirations in sports tourism.
With thousands of runners expected to participate, the Aizawl International Half Marathon promises to be a landmark event, bringing global attention to the beauty and spirit of Mizoram.
