The COCOMI submitted what they called a comprehensive memorandum addressing the ongoing crisis in Manipur to the Governor.

The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) today called for urgent and decisive action to reinstate the displaced people in their respective villages, restore normalcy in Manipur and put in place a popular government.

A 7-member team of the COCOMI called on Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at the Raj Bhawan in Imphal and submitted what they called a comprehensive memorandum addressing the ongoing crisis in Manipur.

Speaking to Northeast Live, COCOMI convenor Khuraijam Athouba said, ” We urged Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to transfer the administration to form a new popular elected government as soon as possible in a particular time bound manner. “

The memorandum also highlighted the urgent need for decisive action against the armed miscreants who have originated from Myanmar and are believed to be operating in the region.

It expressed concern over the Suspension of Operations agreement and urged the Governor to take a firm stand on the issue and push for measures to eliminate the alleged growing security threat posed by the groups.

Athouba said, “We urged him to take initiative to restore normalcy and peace in the state and to restore normalcy regarding the Suspension of Operations.”

“We have highlighted the key issues regarding the involvement of the foreign origin armed militant leaders and how could the government of India sign an agreement with those foreign militant armed groups and give them designated camps and places in Manipur to opearate in the state,” he added.

In addition to the security concerns, the memorandum also addressed the prevailing sense of fear and uncertainty among the people of Manipur due to the imposition of President’s Rule in the state.

The team emphasized the importance of taking immediate steps to prevent widespread panic among the local population.

They urged the Governor to consider any actions or initiatives that could help calm the public, reassure the people, and restore a sense of normalcy during these challenging times.
