In a shocking incident, three bodies were found in a single residence, all belonging to the same family in the Bamunimaidam area of Guwahati.

The victims have been identified as 42-year-old Julie Deka, her daughter Ritika Deka, and Julie’s husband, Lohit Thakuria, also known as Ratul.

The city police suspect foul play, as visible injuries were found on Julie and Ritika, while Lohit also bore signs of assault. Julie, originally from Morigaon, worked for the railways and had been living in Guwahati. Her daughter Ritika, a class 9 student, was from Julie’s first marriage.

Authorities have revealed that Lohit Thakuria, a garage worker, was previously accused of sexually assaulting Ritika. He had been imprisoned under the POCSO Act, adding another layer of complexity to the case.

In response to the gruesome incident, an Assam CID team has taken charge of the investigation. The mysterious deaths have raised concerns about potential external involvement, and police are working to determine the sequence of events leading to the tragedy.
