Tripura Man Kills Wife Over Family Dispute, Calls Police to Admit Crime

In a shocking incident, a man in Tripura allegedly killed his wife following a heated family dispute and later called the police to confess his crime.
The incident took place on Tuesday in Daragabari under Amtali Police Station in the Sepahijala district.
The accused Shyamal Chandra Das in a fit of rage, fatally attacked his wife Swapna Rani Das (58) after an argument escalated. Soon after committing the crime, Shyamal Chandra Das himself informed the police and surrendered without resistance, said Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Amtali, Sankar Chandra Das.
Police then reached the crime scene with a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, dog squad, and specialist investigators and recovered the victim’s body.
A case has been registered, and the accused has been taken into custody for further interrogation.
“Within half an hour of investigation, we found evidence of a prolonged domestic dispute. The husband admitted to the crime, and in the presence of a gazetted officer, we recovered the murder weapon. The accused was immediately arrested and taken to the police station,” said SDPO Das.
