Curfew Imposed at Mawkynrew in East Khasi Hills Following Vandalism at Ramakrishna Mission School

Curfew has been imposed in Mawkynrew Village, under Madanrting Police Station in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, following reports of escalating law and order situation and vandalism at the Ramakrishna Mission School.

The unrest, which led to damage of property and harm to individuals, prompted immediate action to control the situation and prevent further escalation.

The District Magistrate, Rosetta Mary Kurbah, enforced the curfew with immediate effect today, citing concerns over the potential for further unrest, which could lead to a breach of peace and the loss of life and property.

In the official order, the District Magistrate warned that the situation is likely to continue, prompting the curfew to remain in place until further notice to ensure peace and security in the area.

” These activities are likely to continue with every likelihood of causing serious breach of peace and tranquility and may lead to loss of life and property therefore curfew imposed in the above mentioned site at Mawkynrew Village with immediate effect till further orders,” the order read.

The curfew aims to restore order in the affected area. The situation is being closely monitored, and further updates will be provided as authorities assess the developments.
