Tripura’s MBB Airport Upgraded to Grade-II Status

Reacting to the upgrade, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed his pride and gratitude on social media.
The Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala has been upgraded from Grade-III to Grade-II by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
MBB Airport is the second busiest airport in the northeastern region, after Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. The airport handles daily operations of 14 flights and caters to around 4,000 passengers, showcasing its importance as a regional aviation hub.
Although the airport was set to commence international operations with its inaugural flight to Chittagong, Bangladesh, the plan remains on hold due to the current political situation in the neighbouring country.
Reacting to the upgrade, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed his pride and gratitude on social media. He wrote on X, “It is a matter of great pride that MBB Airport, Agartala, has been upgraded from Grade-III to Grade-II based on passenger movement and infrastructure development. My gratitude to Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi Ji for continuous support for the all-round development of Tripura.”
