With the tenure of Bhabesh Kalita as Assam BJP president nearing its end, the race to select his successor is intensifying as the party prepares for the elections on January 17.

The nomination process for the Assam BJP chief will be held tomorrow, and if there is only one nomination, the new president will be announced immediately. However, if more than one contender enters the fray, a proper election will be conducted on January 17 to elect the new state president formally, said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Chief Minister Sarma also revealed that a team of central BJP observers is set to arrive in Guwahati to oversee the election process, ensuring a fair and transparent selection.
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who is the Assam election in-charge for the BJP, will also be present to oversee the entire process, CM Sarma said, adding that the party is committed to a smooth transition of leadership.
As the party awaits the nomination process and possible election, anticipation grows over who will succeed Bhabesh Kalita and lead the Assam BJP into the future.
