Five women from Meghalaya have been selected to attend the 2025 Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, on January 26. These women are part of a distinguished group of 35 representatives from the Northeast, showcasing the region’s contributions to the vision of Swarnim Bharat (Golden India).
The women selected from Meghalaya under the Ministry of Women and Child Development are Grethilla R. Marak from South Garo Hills, Bibiana Dkhar and Julida Dkhar from East Jaintia Hills, Darihun Pyngrope from Ri-Bhoi, and Wenylia Merceeds D. Sangma from East Garo Hills.
These five women are part of a larger group of 10,000 special guests from across the country, including women entrepreneurs, national award winners, and beneficiaries of flagship government schemes. Special attention was given to selecting members of self-help groups (SHGs) actively involved in income generation, environmental protection, health, sanitation, and gender empowerment.
During their visit, these special guests will witness the grandeur of the Republic Day Parade, which celebrates India’s diversity and unity.
