Meghalaya: HSPDP Announces 2nd List of Candidates for Upcoming KHADC Polls

With just a month to go for the District Council polls in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) in Meghalaya, the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) has released its second list of 3 candidates today.

All 3 candidates are for the KHADC elections.

Starfing Jove Langpen Pdahkasiej has been named for the 11-Mawsynram Constituency.

Phinda Warjri, who is the elder sister of Cabinet Minister Shakliar Warjri will be contesting from 24-Pariong constituency, while, Srally Rashir will be contesting from the 29-Mawshynrut Constituency.

With this, the party has announced a total of 11 candidates.

Addressing the media, Party President K.P. Pangniang stated that the party has decided not to field candidates in certain constituencies following an understanding with its RDA partner, the United Democratic Party (UDP).

Pangniang emphasized the party’s commitment to fielding capable candidates who will uphold and represent the people’s interests in the District Councils.

“Being the oldest party of the state, we stand strong. Whatever we have written in the constitution of the party and in the manifesto of the party we continue to stand strong,” he added.

He said that the final list will also be announced soon.

Earlier, the party in its first list of candidates announced 8 names.

Of this, 6 candidates will be contesting the KHADC elections and 2 others will contest the JHADC polls.

The party has fielded Jubanlang Kharbihkhiew for Mawkhar Pynthorumkhrah constituency, Lurshai Lyngwa for Jaiaw-Mawprem, Stodingstar Thabah for Nongspung – Sohiong, Polanding Sohphoh for Mawkyrwat, Badariti Lyngdoh Nonglait for Nongstoin, and K.Phlastingwell Pangniang for Rambrai Jyngam.

For the JHADC polls, the HSPDP has fielded Neh Langki Pala for Sutnga Nongkhlieh constituency, while named Wanshwa Nongtdu for the Narpuh seat.

Earlier in December 2014, the United Democratic Party (UDP) announced its first list of 26 candidates for the upcoming elections.

Elections to the KHADC and the JHADC will be held on February 21, 2025.
