Employees of the Hindustan Paper Corporation or the Cachar paper mill have decided to boycott the upcoming panchayat polls in Assam in protest against non-payment of salaries for almost 2 years now.

The employees also staged a demonstration to announce their decision to boycott the rural body polls.

The employees are also perturbed by the fact that despite Rs 90 crore being released by the centre through budget to help pay salaries, the money has not reached them.
