Over Rs 777 Crore Sanctioned for Widening of Shangshak-Tengnoupal Road in Manipur

Rs. 777.61 crore has been sanctioned for the widening and improvement of the Shangshak-Tengnoupal Road in Manipur.

In a significant boost to infrastructure in Manipur, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, shared on his X post that a budget of Rs. 777.61 crore has been sanctioned for the widening and improvement of the Shangshak-Tengnoupal Road (Package-3) section of National Highway-102A.

Under the Annual Plan 2024-25, the project aims to upgrade the existing single-lane road to a two-lane configuration with a hard shoulder, covering a 48-kilometre stretch from Khonglo to Kasom-Khullen. This important roadway links the Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, playing a crucial role in the region’s connectivity and economic development.

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari also said, the upgraded road is expected to significantly lower vehicle operating costs, improve travel efficiency, and boost tourism in the state. By enhancing road capacity and service quality, the project will contribute to the socio-economic advancement of Manipur.

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren also expressed gratitude about this new development on his X post, stating, “I express my sincere gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji for his unwavering commitment to the development of Manipur and I thank Hon’ble Minister of Transport & Highways, Shri @nitin_gadkari ji for sanctioning the budget of Rs. 777.61 crore for Shangshak-Tengnoupal Road (Package-3) section of National Highway-102A in Manipur.”

Highlighting the project’s impact, CM Biren added that this initiative will “unlock the potential of sustainable development in the state by advancing economic growth, connectivity, and enhancing eco-tourism in the region.”
