Arunachal CM Khandu Orders Probe into St Alphonsa School Water Tank Tragedy That Killed 3 Students

Khandu expressed deep sorrow over the incident and assured that those responsible for the mishap would face strict punishment.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu has called for a comprehensive investigation into the collapse of an overhead water tank at St Alphonsa School, Naharlagun, which claimed the lives of three young students and critically injured two others.

The Chief Minister also announced ex-gratia financial support for the families of the deceased and assistance for the injured in accordance with government norms.

The tragic incident occurred yesterday, December 14, when a water tank at the school burst and collapsed, trapping five children playing nearby under heavy concrete debris. The victims were rushed to the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS). Unfortunately, three of them succumbed to their injuries, while the remaining two are in critical condition.

Eyewitnesses and initial reports revealed that the children were enjoying their time in the playground adjacent to the tank when the structure suddenly gave way, causing unimaginable devastation.
