Manipur: Militant Killed in Gunfight, Six Arrested with Arms and Ammunition

According to police sources, the firefight began at around 9:45 AM when militants launched an attack on the commando team.

A militant was killed, and six others were apprehended after a fierce gun battle broke out between the Thoubal District Commandos and members of a militant group at Salungpham Thongkhong in Thoubal district, Manipur on Saturday morning.

During the crossfire, one militant, identified as Laishram Prem alias Loktak Singh, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to Raj Medicity Hospital for emergency treatment but was declared dead upon arrival. The body has been transferred to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for an autopsy.

The operation resulted in the arrest of six cadres of the militants. The arrested militants have been identified as Thokchom Momocha alias Sunny, Sarangthem Anand Singh alias Malem, Ningthoujam Karna Singh alias Pishak, Ningthoujam Manoranjan Singh alias Khagemba, Thongam Phalguni alias Urikpa alias Khoithol and Moirangthem Johnson alias Thouna.

A significant cache of arms and ammunition, along with multiple electronic devices, was also seized during the operation. The recovered items include:
