Guwahati: Prime accused in Boragaon gang rape case, Robin Das arrested, One Absconding

The arrest brings the total number of arrested suspects to 8, out of the 9 individuals involved in the heinous crime.

In a significant development, the prime accused in the gang-rape of a woman in Guwahati’s Boragaon area, Robin Das has been arrested by the police.

This brings the total number of arrests to 8, out of the 9 individuals involved in the heinous crime.

Other arrested individuals are–Kuldeep Nath, Pinku Das, Mrinal Rabha, Gagan Das, Bijay Rabha, Dipankar Mukhia and Saurabh Boro.

However, one accused, Krishna is still absconding and efforts are ongoing to apprehend him.

Speaking exclusively to Northeastlive, DCP Guwahati West, P Barua said, “The police had initiated a crackdown to trace the perpetrators after a video of violent sexual assault on a woman went viral in Boragaon area late last night. The incident took place back on November 17 but came to light only now when the video of the incident went viral.”

One of the perpetrators, who was known to the victim, took her to the crime scene at a Durga Temple which lies uphill in a secluded area.

Meanwhile, Guwahati Police Commissioner Diganta Barah has arrived at the Gorchuk Police Station to take a briefing on the case.
