110 Acres of Illicit Poppy Fields Destroyed in Ukhrul, CM Biren Lauds Joint Operation

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh commended the operation and expressed gratitude for the Assam Rifles' unwavering efforts.
In a massive crackdown on illegal poppy cultivation, a combined team of Ukhrul District Police, Forest Department, 18 Assam Rifles, and the district administration eradicated 110 acres of poppy plantation in the Khamasom hill ranges.
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh commended the operation and expressed gratitude for the Assam Rifles’ unwavering efforts during challenging times.
The operation was conducted by a combined team comprising the Ukhrul District Police, Forest Department, 18 Assam Rifles, and the district administration. The team successfully destroyed 110 acres of poppy plantation and burned down eight makeshift huts found in the fields. An FIR has been registered, and investigations are underway to identify those responsible for cultivating the banned crop.
Manipur Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Assam Rifles and all personnel involved in the operation, emphasising their dedication during challenging times. “A huge shoutout to the entire team and the @official_dgar for their tireless commitment in combating this menace during this trying time. Your hard work and determination are making a significant difference in safeguarding our future,” CM Biren posted on X.
