NIA Arrests 4 Youths From Assam’s Goalpara with Jaish-e-Mohammed Links

The arrested youths have been identified as-- Sahanur Alam, Joynal Abedin, Sahanur Islam and Anu Taleb.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested 4 youths with links to the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) during a raid in Assam’s Goalpara district today.

The arrested youths have been identified as Sahanur Alam, Joynal Abedin, Sahanur Islam and Anu Taleb.

The NIA operation was carried out with the assistance of Assam Police’s Special Task Force (STF), as part of its ongoing investigation into terror-related activities and radicalisation of individuals linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Besides, Assam NIA is also conducting raids in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Aramulla, Reasi, Budgam and Anantnag districts of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The operation focuses on the dissemination of terrorist propaganda and efforts to counter extremist activities.

An NIA official confirmed that the raids are part of an ongoing effort to dismantle radicalisation networks and said more details will be shared soon.

These fresh raids follow leads uncovered after questioning Sheikh Sultan Salah Uddin Ayubi, also known as Ayubi, who was arrested two months ago during a coordinated raid at 26 locations across Assam, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Ayubi was apprehended for his involvement in a conspiracy case and evidence collected during his questioning, along with documents seized in previous raids, prompted today’s operation.

Following the earlier operation, several suspects were rounded up for questioning.

NIA teams had seized incriminating documents, electronic devices, pamphlets, and magazines, which pointed to a network engaged in radicalising individuals linked to JeM.

The NIA stated that the suspects were actively disseminating terrorist-related propaganda and recruiting youth into the Jamaat outfit inspired by JeM.
