Chief Minister Lalduhoma has urged all government departments to commit to fast-tracking projects, even if it requires working extra hours.

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma complimented peons in government offices who are working well past their duty hours without getting paid for the overtime that they are doing. In the same breath, the CM warned all those neglecting work or underperforming and said that such people will be eventually terminated from their jobs.

“I have often seen peons carrying files with active strides, working diligently until 8 p.m. without demanding overtime. We work for the state, so let’s try our best to emulate such commitment,” CM Lalduhoma said at the review meeting of the education department. Education Minister Dr. Vanlalthlana was also present at the meeting.

In a clear warning to all those neglecting work or being lax at the workplace, the CM said, “We intend to let go of government servants who are not doing their job properly through the proper channel because our goal is to have quality government workers.”

The Chief Minister’s appeal for overtime dedication reflects his administration’s commitment to fostering efficiency and accountability within government departments. “We are determined to carry out our work in the best way possible, and this requires all of us to go the extra mile,” Chief Minister concluded.

Chief Minister Lalduhoma has urged all government departments to commit to fast-tracking projects, even if it requires working extra hours.

“We are committed to the development of our state, and that requires all of us to be willing to work overtime if necessary,” the Chief Minister stated.

The review meeting focused on assessing departmental initiatives, ensuring accountability, and streamlining project management.

The meeting also discussed the challenges faced in managing nearly 40 ongoing projects monitored by the Project Monitoring Committee. Lalduhoma acknowledged limitations in execution but reiterated his government’s resolve to deliver quality outcomes.

A significant reform announced during the meeting was the centralization of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund management. Highlighting instances of past misuse, the Chief Minister stated that the CSR process would now be overseen by a dedicated cell under the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). This move aims to ensure the effective use of funds for genuine development opportunities.

Additionally, all departmental projects seeking central funding will now require vetting by the Planning Department. This step, Lalduhoma explained, would minimize duplication and align projects with the state’s broader development goals.

To ensure transparency and accountability, the Chief Minister said that review meeting minutes would be recorded and monitored by the CMO, enabling the government to track project progress efficiently.
