It needs to be mentioned that, the arrest led to the protest by the local women demanding action against Saikia.

The heartbreaking incident took place yesterday when Divyajyoti, the owner of a broiler chicken farm, beat to death a female dog in front of her puppies.

The dog was desperate for food after giving birth to five puppies, and she ventured into the broiler farm and ate a chicken. This simple act of survival led to the youth, Divya Jyoti Saikia alias Dadul Nath, brutally beating the dog to death.

What followed next was even more heart-wrenching, as the dog’s puppies were seen wandering around her lifeless body, their cries of hunger and despair, sad and unbearable.

This shocking act prompted local women to stage a protest, demanding action against Saikia. Their demand highlights an important aspect of our legal system: under Section 428 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), causing harm to animals is a punishable offence, with a maximum penalty of two years in prison. It is crucial to ensure such laws are enforced to prevent such heinous acts from becoming commonplace.
