Tripura to Modernize ITIs with Rs. 570.4 Crore Boost in Partnership with TATA Technologies

The announcement was made by Cabinet Minister Susanta Chaudhury during a press briefing at the Secretariat on Saturday.

In a major step towards enhancing vocational education and boosting employability, the Tripura government has approved a Rs. 570.4 crore project to modernize its Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). The initiative, undertaken in partnership with TATA Technologies Limited, aims to upgrade 19 ITIs across the state with state-of-the-art facilities and new training disciplines.

The announcement was made by Cabinet Minister Susanta Chaudhury during a press briefing at the Secretariat on Saturday. Chaudhury stated that the proposal had received cabinet approval under the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Saha.

“This modernization project will align vocational training with industry demands, ensuring that ITI graduates are well-prepared for the job market,” said Chaudhury.

The project will be implemented through a cost-sharing arrangement, with TATA Technologies covering 86% of the expenses, while the state government will contribute the remaining 14%. The state has also committed to providing 13,000 square feet of space to accommodate new training infrastructure.

The modernization plan includes the introduction of cutting-edge courses tailored to current industrial requirements, significantly enhancing the employability of students.
