At least 20 infants die within a week at JMCH; probe ordered into incident

At least 20 infants have lost their lives within a week since November 1 at the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) in Assam. However, the JMCH authorities disclosed that

At least 20 infants have lost their lives within a week since November 1 at the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) in Assam.

However, the JMCH authorities disclosed that since November 1 to November 7, 15 infants have lost their lives.

Meanwhile, JMCH superintendent Dr Sourav Borkakoti have ordered a probe to ascertain the cause behind the unnatural deaths of the infants.

The six member probe committee will submit the report into the death cases before the Superintendent by today.

The unnatural deaths occurred at the newly set up maternity and child care unit in the Jorhat Medical college and hospital.
