The operation resulted in the confiscation of approximately 1,140.58 grams of heroin, with an estimated value of Rs. 8 crore.

In a successful operation on Tuesday morning, Dialai police in the Karbi Anglong District arrested two individuals suspected of drug trafficking and seized a significant quantity of heroin. The operation resulted in the confiscation of approximately 1,140.58 grams of heroin, with an estimated value of Rs. 8 crore.

The suspects, identified as Rahidul Islam and Nur Alam, hail from the Goalpara District. They were intercepted at around 7:40 am at a routine police checkpoint set up in front of the old Lahorijan forest beat office.

The duo was traveling in a six-wheeled Tata vehicle (bearing registration number AS 28 AC 1322) en route from Manipur to Guwahati when police discovered 95 packets of suspected heroin cleverly concealed in the vehicle’s toolbox.

This substantial seizure sheds light on the persistent and concerning issue of drug trafficking across various states in India. The arrested individuals are now in police custody, undergoing further questioning as authorities probe deeper into the larger network potentially involved in the operation. Authorities aim to gather intelligence leading to more arrests and a deeper understanding of the trafficking operations linking Manipur to Guwahati.
