GMC Gets Cracking, Shuts Grill Panda For Running Eatery Without Clearances, 6th Food Outlet To Be Shut in 4 Days in Guwahati

Since October 30, GMC food inspectors have shut Barbie Hotel and Restaurant,Keri Beri and Tando King eateries for food safety rule violations.

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), continuing its inspection on restaurants and eateries in Guwahati have sealed at least 6 food outlets either for serving unhygienic and bad quality food or cooking in unhygienic conditions and not following food safety standards or for operating without licenses and permits.
Yesterday, GMC officials shut Grill Panda restaurant located on Zoo Road area of the city for operating without the necessary licenses and clearances.
Since October 30, GMC food inspectors have shut Barbie Hotel and Restaurant, Keri Beri and Tando King eateries for food safety rule violations and operating without the required permits and licenses.
On October 24, GMC sealed Madras Cafe for violating trade licence rules, and Dilkhush Punjabi Dhaba was shut due to improper garbage disposal practices.
According to GMC officials, Grill Panda had been running for several years without the required permits. GMC is conducting a crackdown on food outlets and food businesses which are operating without complying with regulations or food safety standards and operating without licenses.
The raids are part of the GMC’s initiative to protect consumers by ensuring that food service businesses meet mandatory standards.
GMC said that they would inspect the roadside eateries and food trucks too.
