The party had fielded party spokesperson Mahesh Rai from the Namchi-Singithang seat and Pobin Hang Subbafrom the Soreng-Chakungseat.
In a big blow to the Citizen Action Party (CAP), both its candidates’ nominations for the upcoming bypolls have been rejected. CAP is now out of the bypoll race for the Namchi-Singithang and Soreng-Chakung assembly seats.
The party had fielded party spokesperson Mahesh Rai from the Namchi-Singithang seat and Pobin Hang Subbafrom the Soreng-Chakungseat.
The nomination of both Rai and Subba was rejected due to forged proposer signatures. During the scrutiny by Election Commission officials today, the returning officer requested supporting documents like PAN Card, Bank Passbook, driving licence and other documents with their original signatures from the proposers, but this did not match with the ones submitted on the nomination paper by the CAP candidate.
The proposers had on October 25, filed FIR against Subba for alleged forgery, impersonation and fraud in the nomination process. The complaint was lodged by Ganesh Kumar Rai, Pratik Rai, and Phip Raj Subba accusing Subba of using their names and forging their signatures on his nomination papers without their consent.
Now the fight for the Namchi-Singithang seat will be between SKM’s Satish Chandra Rai and SDF’s Daniel Rai and for the Soreng-Chakung seat it will be between SKM’s Aditya Golay and SDF’sPrem Bahadur Bhandari.
Soon after the disqualification, CAP President Ganesh Rai updated his profile on social media and wrote ‘Black Day’.
