The public is urging authorities to enforce traffic regulations more strictly and improve roadside lighting to prevent further.

A tragic road accident on the Patharkandi bypass in Assam’s Karimganj district claimed the lives of two Assam Police personnel late on October 17.

The victims, identified as Rahul Dev Burman from Khilairaband, Patharkandi, and Budhan Barman from Damchura, Ratabari, were on their way to Karimganj when their motorcycle crashed into a stationary truck.

According to eyewitnesses, the truck had been parked without any rear lights, making it nearly invisible in the dark. The absence of warning lights is believed to have contributed to the fatal collision, which resulted in the officers’ deaths on the spot.

Local residents have raised concerns, stating that incidents involving improperly parked trucks at night are common on the bypass. Several similar accidents have occurred in the past due to poorly lit roads and unsafe parking practices.

In response to the tragedy, the public is urging authorities to enforce traffic regulations more strictly and improve roadside lighting to prevent further.
