No Need to Resent Demand for New for Interlocutor for Naga Talks: Nagaland Minister Temjen Imna Along

We have to come to a common ground and talk with Delhi," said the Minister.
BJP leader and Nagaland Minister, Temjen Imna Along has emphasized that there is no reason to show resentment on the demand for a new interlocutor for the Naga talks, before Delhi responds on the demands raised by the Political Affairs Committee (PAC).
“Many will accept and many will oppose, but as a facilitator, the 60-member State Legislative Assembly led by CM Neiphiu Rio and all the party members have come together and discussed what is the best way to go forward,” said Minister Along.
Responding to the NNPG’s opposition to the new interlocutor demand, Temjen Imna Along noted that the PAC has requested a strong leader as interlocutor, not because the current one is ineffective, but to ensure a stronger platform with the mandate and ability to take decisions.
“The PAC has asked for a strong leader to be the interlocutor but that does not mean, the present interlocutor is not doing right. It only means that a stronger platform with the mandate of the ability to make decisions. Why should we be showing our resentment or asking him or not? We have to come to a common ground and talk with Delhi,” he added.
It may be mentioned that the NNPGs had expressed strong opposition to the PAC resolution’s new interlocutor stating that it was a bid to delay a solution to the Naga issue.
On the ENPO demands, Temjen emphasized that the state government has made it clear that the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) should first sit with the Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union (ENLU) legislators to discuss what is possible while formulating the draft proposal Frontier Nagaland Territory.
He added this is crucial because the legislators represent the Eastern Nagaland people, and their input is vital for a cohesive approach.
The Minister also stressed that the State Government aims to be inclusive and considerate of the Eastern people’s demands, prioritizing the preservation of Nagaland’s social and traditional fabric while accommodating the needs of the Eastern people.
