The Meghalaya government is all set to hold a decisive meeting with the Harijan Panchayat Committee in the last week of September.

The meeting will be chaired by Chief Secretary DP Wahlang.

The meeting comes after the HPC requested the state government to grant more time to provide their final decision on the proposed relocation from Them lew Mawlong to Bishop Cotton Road in Shillong.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Urban Affairs, Sniawbhalang Dhar, confirmed that the Harijan Panchayat Committee will attend the meet the last week of September.

While speaking to the media, Dhar said, “The Harijan Panchayat Committee has requested an extension until the last week of September, and the meeting will now be held at the Chief Secretary level, likely toward the end of the month.”
