PM Modi to Grace Sikkim’s Golden Jubilee Statehood Day Celebrations in May 2025

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi to formally invite him as the Chief Guest for Sikkim’s 50th Statehood Day celebration, scheduled for May 16, 2025.

Chief Minister Tamang highlighted that this event holds special significance as it marks the Golden Jubilee of Sikkim’s merger with India, commemorating 50 years since the state became the 22nd state of India in 1975. The celebration is themed “Sunaulo, Samridha, and Samarth Sikkim,” symbolizing a golden, prosperous, and capable Sikkim.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Tamang also extended his Janmashtami greetings to PM Modi. He expressed that the Prime Minister’s presence at this momentous event would significantly enhance its importance. The year-long celebration planned by the Government of Sikkim will highlight the state’s journey from pre-merger times to its current progress as part of India.

Chief Minister Tamang expressed that the Prime Minister graciously accepted the invitation to attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations, making it a historic event for the people of Sikkim

Chief Minister Tamang highlighted that the Sikkim’s merger with India in 1975 was a key milestone in the state’s history, opening up new avenues for growth and development. He further said that the merger has been pivotal in modernizing Sikkim, bringing advancements in science and technology, modern institutions, and various opportunities for holistic progress.

The Chief Minister urged the people of Sikkim to come together in celebrating this grand occasion with the spirit of “TEAM SIKKIM,” focusing on the continued development and prosperity of the state and the nation.
