Chinese Illegal Immigrants Living in Manipur Since 5 Years Manipur CM in State Assembly

Singh informed the House that out of 10,675 illegal immigrants, around 85 such illegal immigrants had been deported during this period.
Chinese illegal immigrants are among the 10,675 foreign nationals who have illegally entered India and have been living in Manipur for the past 5 years, Chief Minister N Biren Singh told the Manipur Assembly on Friday.
Along with the Chinese, there are illegal immigrants from Norway, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Nepal too, the CM said sharing details of the districts where these infiltrators have been staying.
Of the 10,675 illegal migrants, 143 are detained in detention centres, CM Singh said. He was replying to a query by MLA Surjakumar Okram.

Singh informed the House that out of 10,675 illegal immigrants, around 85 such illegal immigrants had been deported during this period.
At present 143 illegal immigrants have been kept in detention centres as well, he added.
Biren informed the house that a committee had been constituted to verify illegal Myanmar immigrants in Churachandpur, Chandel, Tengnoupal, Kamjong and Pherzawl districts.
Meanwhile, the state government has incurred Rs 85.55 lakh for the maintenance of detainees in the centre.
A break-up of the illegal immigrants submitted by Biren shows that illegal immigrants are distributed at Imphal West-11, Imphal East-1, Bishnupur-1, Thoubal-1, Kakching-6, Churachandpur-150, Chandel-1,895, Tengnoupal-2,406, Ukhrul-3, Kangpokpi-2 and Kamjong-6,199.
Mentioning about the steps being taken to stop the influx, CM N Biren Singh informed about the Central government’s decision to fence the Indo-Myanmar border. The CM said that a total length of 9. 214 km of border fencing between Border Post 79 to 81 has been completed.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved border fencing of 120 km in Manipur for which a proposal has been submitted to the home ministry for 80 kms. Sanction has been accorded, and physical work has commenced for a stretch of 21.86km, N Biren Singh added.
Biren Singh further informed the House that the district police are working round the clock to check the influx of illegal immigrants by conducting mobile frisking and checking in vulnerable areas.
The process is going on to establish six police stations and 34 police outposts in the border areas of the state as well.
He also stated that all illegal immigrants are confined to local temporary shelter homes located at lndo-Myanmar border villages. They have been provided humanitarian support after proper identification and verification by way of taking biometric and biographic details.
Government has appointed Civil and Police Nodal Officers in 5 border districts to check and monitor illegal migrants in the border district.
