Bihar Flood: Water Level Of Bagmati River Rising Rapidly, 18 Panchayats In Muzaffarpur District Flooded

Lakhs of people residing in 18 panchayats in the Muzaffarpur district of Bihar have lost contact with the block headquarters and district headquarters after floodwaters inundated thousands of houses in the area.
According to reports, the water level of the Bagmati River has been rapidly rising, flooding the 18 panchayats in the district.
Numerous schools in the affected regions have been submerged, disrupting the education of hundreds of children. Floodwater has also entered hundreds of homes in Barri and Basghatta Panchayats.
Massive erosion has also been reported along the old embankment of the West Bagmati River, which stretches from Gangia to Bakuchi Chowk.
Meanwhile, the Bihar government has urged district administrations to stay vigilant as the water levels of multiple rivers are rising.
Pratyaya Amrit, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Disaster Management Department (DMD), recently conducted a virtual review meeting with officials from nearly all districts to assess the situation across the state.
