Mizoram: 4 women candidates file nominations for bye-polls to AMC ward-19 on June 25

Bye-poll to ward-19 was necessitated after its previous Corporator, Baryl Vanneihsangi, was elected as MLA for the Aizawl South III constituency
As many as four women candidates from the ruling Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), Mizo National Front (MNF), Congress and BJP filed their nominations for the bye-polls to the Aizawl Municipal Corporation ward-19 scheduled to be held on June 25, 2024.
Those who filed the nomination papers on Thursday are:
- C. Malsawmtluangi, Hlimen Vengthlang (ZPM)
- Dr. Lalrinzuali Hrahsel, Kulikawn (MNF)
- Effie Vanlalhmangaihi, Venghnuai (Congress)
- K. Vanlalruati, Tlangnuam Vengthar (BJP)
Bye-poll to ward-19 was necessitated after its previous Corporator, Baryl Vanneihsangi (ZPM), was elected as MLA for the Aizawl South-III constituency.
Baryl Vanneihsangi is the youngest woman MLA in the state.
In Mizoram Assembly elections 2023, she won the Aizawl South-III constituency with a total of 9,370 votes defeating MNF candidate Lalnunmawia, Congress candidate Rosiamngheta and Independent candidate Dr. Zaichhawna Hlawndo.
