Arunachal, Sikkim Assembly Poll 2024 Results tomorrow: IMD predicts heavy rainfall in both states on counting day

The IMD has issued an orange alert for both states.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for both Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, stating that heavy to extremely heavy rainfall might occur in both states on Sunday (June 2) and Monday (June 3).

Significantly, the IMD alert comes when eyes are set on both states since results for the Assembly Elections to both states are going to be announced on Sunday. Thus it has been predicted that the results day in both the states will be quite rainy.

Issuing an Orange Alert for Arunachal Pradesh, the IMD said, “Arunachal Pradesh is very likely to get isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) on 2nd and 3rd June 2024.”

In terms of Sikkim, the IMD said, “Sub Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim is very likely to get isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) on 2nd June 2024.”

The counting of votes will start from 6 am on June 2.

Counting of votes for 50 Assembly seats out of a total of 60, will be held in 24 centres in Arunachal Pradesh. The ruling BJP has already won 10 seats in the 60-member Assembly unopposed.

The counting of votes for 32 Assembly Constituencies in Sikkim will be held in 6 centres in the state.
