Amid the turmoil in Manipur, Pallel tells you a story of peace and brotherhood. An Exclusive Report from Pallel
While the rest of the State is still engulfed in turmoil, the sleepy little town of Pallel has encouraged Manipur to dream for peace and normalcy again. Located 46 kilometers away from Imphal, on the borders of Kakching and Tengnoupal Districts, this locality in Pallel, tells a story of peace and brotherhood.
Various communities residing in the town, including Kukis and Meiteis, have been maintaining peace. The two otherwise warring communities have reached a mutual understanding in Pallel and have been living together without provocations. Residents from both communities, work and shop in the same market and go on with their daily activities unaffected by the animosity elsewhere in Manipur.
Even limited number of security forces can be seen in Pallel, as the need for heavy deployment seemed unnecessary.
Naga, Kuki, Meitei, Nepali besides other communities live in Pallel. Except for an incident on the 8th of September last year, where heavy cross firing between the two sides took one life and injured a few others, Pallel has not reported any incidents of violence since.
