Assam: Amid rising concerns of global warming, 100 trees illegally chopped in Bajali district

At a time when global warming is becoming a major issue across the world, a group of people have illegally cut down more than 100 trees in lower Assam’s Bajali district.

According to sources, the field officer of disaster management, Shankar Nath, who visited the location for official work, was taken aback by the atmosphere and the indiscriminate felling of hundreds of trees.
The field officer of disaster management informed the forest officials after he caught the miscreants red-handed.

However, the miscreants who were wearing masks, reportedly fled the scene on their tractors.

Speaking to the media, Shankar Nath said, “Temperature is increasing day by day. Here more than 100 trees were cut without permission which is very harmful to the environment.”

“Assam Government is taking various steps to control global warming. This is not good for the future. I informed the higher officials to take action against the people involved in the case.” he added.

Despite various initiatives taken by the state government to curb the indiscriminate falling of trees, there are such reports emerging every day.
