Man trampled to death by elephant in his sleep in Assam’s Numaligarh

The deceased has been identified as Chuttu Orang. He is survived by his wife.

A man was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Assam’s Numaligarh creating panic amongst people.

The incident took place at Bakial Buragohainkhat in Numaligarh yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Chuttu Orang. He is survived by his wife.

Chutu Orang and his wife were sleeping at night when a jumbo reportedly strayed out of the nearby forest and attacked their house.

The husband-wife duo tried to run away out of fear, but Chutu could not run and was unfortunately trampled to death by the elephant.

Man-elephant conflict continues to be a cause of concern in Assam.

On April 27, 4 people, including 2 forest officials were trampled to death by a wild elephant at Dhiraimajuli in the Barsala constituency of Sonitpur district.
