In a big breakthrough, the Arunachal Pradesh Police has busted a racket involved in flesh trade, operating in the heart of the capital city Itanagar.

The Itanagar Police swung into action after a complaint was filed by the Child Welfare Committe (CWC) and accordingly an operation was carried out on May 4. A raid was conducted at the alleged brothel and also a residence of 2 accused persons in the case.

What shocked everyone was the fact that 3 minor girls were found who later revealed that they were forced into prositution when they were barely 8-14 years old.

During the course, 2 of the resuced minors informed that they were trafficked to Itanagar from Assam’s Dhemaji district. Shocking details emerged wherein both the minors revealed that they were forced into prositution by 2 accused women who were sisters in relation.

The third minor girl who was rescued is the daughter of the prime accused who was operating the alleged brothel and his first wife, but was not forced into prostitution. She has been renuited with her mother and is safe.

Further probe revealed that 2 more girls who were trafficked from Dhemaji and was in the custody of the 2 accused sisters, were also rescued from Ganga in Itanagar.

The Itanagar Police informed that all the 4 traffickers cum pimps have been arrested and are presently in police custody. The rescued minor girls are at Shelter Homes where they are receiving further medical and mental health care.

Even more horrifying is the fact that names of persons who are holding significant official posts such as Junior Engineer of Rural Works Department, Assistant Engineer of PWD and even a Director Level officer of a government department have been found to be indulged in sexually assaulting these minor girls.

As per the Itanagar Police statement, the probe so far has revealed that the accused sisters who had trafficked minor girls from Assam’s Dhemaji district were running a beauty parlour at Vivek Vihar in Itanagar. The accused had procured minor girls from poor families in Dhemaji on the pretext of getting them jobs at Itanagar. Once the girls reached Itanagar, the accused sisters with their network of pimps including 4 other accused persons would look for suitable customers to have physical relation with the minor victim girls through Whatsapp Groups and other conventional channels. Once the accused find a probable customer looking for minor girls they would share the photos of the victim minor girls with them on Whatsapp, fix the rate and then the girls would be driven to the customer at a hotel room, or the residence of the prime accused from where the alleged brothel was operating or any other place of their choosing.
