Student bodies hold TSCB and Tripura Govt responsible for the death of 2 job aspirants in a road accident in Assam

The protestors have demanded justice for the deceased aspirants, calling for government employment for their family members and free treatment for the injured.
Student and youth organizations, including the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), Student Federation of India (SFI) AND Twipra Students’ Federation (TSF) have held the Tripura State Cooperative Bank (TSCB) and the Tripura government accountable for the death of the two job aspirants in the fatal road accident at Dittokcherra in Assam’s Dima Hasao district today.
It may be mentioned here that despite protests against the TSCB’s decision to conduct its recruitment examination outside Tripura, TSCB is conducting the exam in different centres of Assam from tomorrow. This move has compelled aspirants to travel to another state for the recruitment examination, the protestors said.
A bus carrying 36 aspirants from Agartala to Guwahati for tomorrow’s examination turned turtle at Dittokcherra in Assam’s Dima Hasao district past midnight on the intervening night of May 1-2 killing the two on the spot and injuring several others.
The student and youth organisations carried out a rally in front of the TSCB headquarters in Agartala and vehemently criticized TSCB’s decision to conduct exams outside Tripura, alleging ulterior motives behind the move.
The protestors denounced the purported lack of infrastructure within the state, despite the government’s claims of a “digital Tripura” and “smart city” initiatives.
They have demanded justice for the deceased aspirants and government jobs for their family members and free treatment for the injured.
To conduct the online examination, the TSCB has outsourced exam centres at various locations in Assam, including Silchar, Guwahati, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, and Tezpur, in addition to Agartala.
With over 19,000 applications received for 156 posts in TSCB, all from permanent residents of Tripura, the decision to shift the exam locations to Assam has raised questions about the adequacy of infrastructure within the state for conducting such examinations.
