In a significant statement, Nagaland NPF MLA Achumbemo Kikon today said that NPF expects to lead in all 13 constituencies of Outer Manipur Lok Sabha seat with a huge margin.

Voting for the 13 Assembly constituencies of the total 28 Assembly constituencies of Outer Manipur is currently underway at 628 polling stations.

Kikon has also exuded confidence in emerging victorious in this election.

Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Kikon said, “Elections for the 15 Assembly constituencies of the Outer Manipur were held in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 19. Most of these constituencies are represented by the BJP which has extended support to our candidate K Timothy Zimik. 9 Assembly constituencies of the 13 Assembly constituencies, polling for which is currently underway, fall under Naga-dominated areas where there are 5 NPF MLAs and others constituencies are represented by NPP and BJP. So with the support of the BJP, Conrad Sangma led National Peoples Party (NPP) and other like-minded parties, we are expected to lead in almost all constituencies with a huge margin and we are hoping that we will emerge victorious.”

Currently polling is underway for– Jiribam, Tengnoupal (ST), Phungyar (ST), Ukhrul (ST), Chingai (ST), Karong (ST), Mao (ST), Tadubi (ST), Tamei (ST), Tamenglong (ST), Nungba (ST), Tipaimukh (ST), and Thanlon (ST) constituencies at 628 polling stations.

A total of 1,010,618 eligible voters will decide the fate of 4 candidates in the fray.

K Timothy Zimik, a retired Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer is up against Congress’s Ukhrul Alfred K Arthur, former Ukhrul MLA, and two independent candidates – Alyson Abonmei and S Kho John.

BJP did not field a candidate and decided to support Zimik.
