Arunachal Repoll: Highest standard of security protocol in place says CEO

Arunachal Pradesh CEO Pawan Kumar Sain has issued a stern warning against those intend to disrupt the election proceedings

The Arunachal Pradesh Election Commission is ready with the preparations for repolling in 8 polling stations to be held on April 24 where 4479 eligible voters are expected to exercise their franchise.

Arunachal CEO Pawan Kumar Sain meanwhile in a strong message that if anyone tries disrupt the democratic process, then such individuals would be taught a good lesson.

Briefing newspersons, the Arunachal Pradesh CEO shared details about the polling stations and said, “We are going to have repolling at 8 locations. The timing of the repolls will be from 6AM to 2PM. It will be in East Kameng district at Bameng assembly constituency- in the Sario polling station where 286 voters will be casting their vote. In Kurung Kumey district under the Nyapin assembly constituency- Langte Loth where 863 people will be casting their votes.

In Upper Subansiri it will be in 4 locations in Nacho constituency Dingser-309 votes, Bogiya Siyum where 577 voters will be casting their votes, Jimbari-696 voters and Lengi-308 voters will be casting their votes.
In Siang district Rumgong constituency there are two locations- Bogne 987 voters will be there and Molom where 453 voters will be casting their votes.”

CEO Pawan Kumar Sain further said that an extensive security plan is being put in place to ensure free, fair and peaceful repolling in the 8 polling stations.

“We have extensive details about this (security arrangements in Upper Subansiri) for repoll like the most senior officer, our State Nodal Police Officer Jummar Basar will be stationed at Daporijo along with 4-5 SPs. So 4 polling stations are there, it will be like each SP will be in charge of one polling station. For example, Siang- Sachin Singhal who is SP Pasighat, Hage Mamu who is the DC East Siang and Abhimanyu Koswal who is the SP West Siang, they will be in charge of the 2 polling stations.

I have told DEO Lower Subansiri, he will be stationed at Daporijo, DC and SP Kra Daadi and SP Lower Dibang valley, they all will be stationed in Kurung Kumey district. In East Kameng, DC West Kameng Akriti and SP Sudhansu, they will be stationed in East Kameng along with other officers like Dy SP, SPs and our APCS officers with 10 paramilitary forces.

So for these 8 polling station we have extensive details and deployment. We will ensure that this time if something happens, if somebody tries to snatch or touch the EVM in an unlawful manner, a lesson will be taught properly,” CEO Sain added.

Meanwhile, CEO Pawan Kumar Sain said that the overall voter turnout in the April 19 Lok Sabha and Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Elections have also increased with the final figures out.

“Based on final scrutiny and examinations of all the reports received from the Presiding Officers, our voter turnout has also increased. It is 77.51% for Parliamentary constituencies and 82.71% for Assembly constituency. This are the final figures,” the Arunachal CEO further stated.
